RK Split

RK ‘Split’ was founded in 1948, and in 2009 the 60th anniversary of the club’s successful and continuous activities was celebrated. On this occasion, the City of Split awarded us the City’s Annual Lifetime Achievement Award, and the Split Sports Association awarded us the ‘Fabjan Kaliterna’ trophy for 60 years of successful activity.

During its many years of activity, the club has created and raised thousands of young athletes. Some of them still represent the backbone of the Croatian national handball team, which is the most trophy in our country and our national pride.
The club started playing handball: the world’s best handball player Ivano Balić, Petar Metličić, Drago Vuković, Ljubo Vukić, Dalibor Anušić, Dragan Jerković, and a handful of other national team members, as well as today’s most famous Jakov Gojun and Ivan Slišković, winners of the bronze medal at the European Handball Championship held in January 2016 in Poland.

In the last 20 years, the club has been a permanent participant in the 1st Croatian Premier League in handball, and a participant in European competitions. We highlight the following from the success:

• The men’s senior team was twice a participant in the EHF Cup semi-final;
• In the 2010/2011 season, the men’s senior team was a participant in the Final Four tournament of the Croatian Cup held in Split;
• In all national leagues in which he competes, the club is always among the best in all age categories (seniors, cadets, junior cadets and boys).

They achieved their greatest success in the second half of the nineties of the last century, under the leadership of coach Vatromir Srhoj, when they were the runners-up of the state and semi-finalists of the EHF Cup.
