Handball in the city under Marjan

Handball club Split has its tradition in the city under Marjan since 1948. Many people from Split spent their first sports days in that club.
Since the founding of the Republic of Croatia, the club has reached its greatest fame in the nineties, when it enters the 1st Croatian Handball League and begins its arrow-like path towards the top of the 1st HRL. Then, in a very short time, the club reaches the very top of the table and becomes an equal opponent to the previously undisputed Zagreb. At the same time, the club achieves enviable results in Europe (unforgettable matches with European giants like Kiel and Magdeburgh.).
In those times, excellent foreign players and local players play in the club, of whom two of them should be emphasized – Ivan Balić (the best player in the history of handball) and Petar Metličić (captain of the national team and one of the best players in the world).
The club creates talents that it cannot keep, which is why they achieve their complete affirmation in other clubs (Vuković, Vukić.)…
